This process will create a new generation of venture capital partners, ones who have been battle tested in the trenches of a startup, hardened by hiring and firing, tempered by making a payroll and losing orders, and will never forget it’s all about the people.
These VC’s would return to their firms with steel in their eyes. They’d be relentless about accountability from board meeting to board meeting with laser like focus on the one or two issues that matter. They would understand the CEO-VC-board dynamic in a way that few who hadn’t lived it could. They’d be ruthless in their choice of people and teams, looking for those few who have natural curiosity, a passion to win, and who won’t take no for answer.
Starting a company requires you to become oddly unemotional. That means dumping fear of failure, dumping fear of judgement, dumping the desire to impress anyone.
How does one become a butterfly?” she asked pensively.
”You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.

People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life.
A true soul mate is probably the most important person you’ll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then leave.
A soul mates purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, make you so desperate and out of control that you have to transform your life, then introduce you to your spiritual master…
Happiness is neither virtue nor pleasure, nor this thing, nor that, but simply growth. We are happy when we are growing.
This book showcases the raw talent of an emerging author. Gripping, harrowing, and downright marrow-chilling at times, Digging up Trouble exposes the corruption, greed, and filth that permeates this sorry, sorry world. SPOILER ALERT: At the climax of this book on page 98, our main protagonist, Zinn, decides to profess his love to Fiona, the daughter of a wealthy, benevolent industrialist who is really the alter ego of Dom Huan, the leader of the shadow organization SPTHEN, which creates acronyms for shadow organizations, but he is thwarted by a very large hole. The remaining 46 pages of this book aren’t as exciting, but contain a few decent moments that are worth a chortle or three.
Can’t wait for the sequel!
